Define Db2 LUW Thresholds

You can use Db2 LUW thresholds to detect resource misuse or the beginning of system overload. Use the Db2 LUW Thresholds Editor to specify threshold properties.

Note: This topic applies to Db2 for LUW versions 9.5 and 9.7 only.

To define a Db2 LUW threshold

1. Right-click Threshold in the Model Explorer and select New.

   A new threshold with the default name appears.

2. Right-click the newly created threshold and select Properties.

   The Db2 LUW Threshold Editor opens.

3. Work with the following options:

   Name

   Specifies the name of the threshold.

   Type

   Specifies the domain the threshold applies to. Select from the drop-down list; valid values are Database, Service Class, and Workload.

   Scope

   Specifies the threshold scope. Select from the drop-down list. Valid values are Database, Database Partition, or Workload Occurrence.

   Enabled

   Indicates whether or not the selected threshold is enabled.

   Generate

   Specifies whether or not to generate DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.

4. Work with the following options on the General tab:

   Workload

   Specifies the workload for which you are defining threshold.

   Service Class

   Specifies the service class for which you are defining threshold.

   Threshold Predicate Type

   Specifies the threshold predicate type. Select from the drop-down list.

   Threshold Value

   Specifies a value for the threshold type.

   Threshold Collect Activity Data Type

   Specifies the activity data that the applicable threshold collects. Select from the drop-down list.

   Collect Activity Data for Partition Type

   Specifies the level at which you want to collect data about each activity that exceeded the threshold. Select from the drop-down list; valid values are Coordinator Partition and All Partitions.

   Threshold Action Execution Type

   Indicates the action executed when the threshold is exceeded. Select a value from the drop-down list. Valid values are Stop Execution, Continue, or Remap Activity.

5. (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments that you want to associate with the object.
6. (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the object.
7. (Optional) Click the Notes tab to view and edit user notes.
8. Click Close.

   The Db2 LUW Threshold Editor closes.
