Define Db2 LUW Database Partition Groups

Use the options in the Db2 for LUW Database Partition Group Editor to set properties for a database partition group. You create a database partition group when you define a subset of one or more database partitions in a database.

To define a Db2 LUW database partition group

  1. Right-click a Database Partition Group in the Model Explorer and select Properties.

    The Db2 for LUW Database Partition Groups Editor opens.

  2. Select a database partition group name and work with the following options:

    Note: Click New New icon in property editors to create a new object on the toolbar to create a database partition group. Use the Enter filter text text box to filter a large list of names to locate the one you want to work with.

    Name

    Specifies the name of the database partition group.

    Generate

    Specifies whether or not to generate DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.

  3. Click the Database Partitions tab to work with the following properties:
    Name

    Specifies a database partition. Select the check box next to the name to include it in the database partition group. You can open the database partition editor to include available database partitions.

    Partition Number

    Specifies the partition number.

  4. (Optional) Click the Commenttab and enter any comments that you want to associate with the object.
  5. (Optional) Click the Where Used tab to view where the object is used within the model.
  6. (Optional) Click the UDPtab to work with user-defined properties for the object.
  7. (Optional) Click the Notestab to view and edit user notes.
  8. (Optional) Click the Extended Notes tab to view or edit user notes.
  9. Click Close.

    The new database partition group is saved and the Db2 for LUW Database Partition Group Editor closes.
