Define Db2 LUW Type Mappings

Use the Db2 for LUW Type Mapping Editor to define properties for data type mappings in a Db2 LUW physical model.

To define Db2 LUW type mappings

  1. Right-click a Type Mapping in the Model Explorer and select Properties.

The Db2 for LUW Type Mapping Editor opens.

  2. Select a type mapping and work with the following options:

Note: Click New New icon in property editors to create a new object on the toolbar to create a type mapping. Use the Enter filter text text box to filter a large list of names to locate the one you want to work with.

    Name

Specifies the name of the type mapping.

    Local Data Type

Specifies the data type that is being mapped to a federated database.

    Character Type

Specifies whether the character type data is for binary.

    Remote Data Type

Specifies the data type that is being mapped from a federated database.

    Mapping Direction Type

Specifies the mapping direction. Select a direction type (Remote To Local or Local To Remote) from the drop-down list.

    Generate

Specifies whether or not to generate DDL for this object during Forward Engineering.

  3. Work with the following options on the General tab:
    Server

Specifies the server name to associate with the type mapping. Select a server from the drop-down list.

    Server Type

Identifies the type of server for the type mapping.

    Server Version

Identifies the version of the server for the type mapping. See IBM Db2 reference documentation for acceptable parameters (for example, version, release, and so on.)

    Wrapper

Specifies the name of the wrapper that the federated server uses to interact with the defined server type and server version. Select a wrapper from the drop-down list.

You can specify the following parameters for precision and scale for remote mapping:

    Is Remote For Binary Data

Specifies whether the data-source-data-type is for bit data.

    Remote Low Precision

Specifies the minimum value for precision for a remote data type.

    Remote High Precision

Specifies the maximum value for precision for a remote data type.

    Remote Low Scale

Specifies the minimum value for scale for a remote data type.

    Remote High Scale

Specifies the maximum value for scale for a remote data type.

    Remote Precision To Scale

Specifies an arithmetical expression to filter precision and scale. Select from the drop-down list.

  4. (Optional) Click the Comment tab and enter any comments that you want to associate with the object.
  5. (Optional) Click the UDP tab to work with user-defined properties for the object.
  6. (Optional) Click the Notes tab to view and edit user notes.
  7. Click Close.

The Db2 for LUW Type Mapping Editor closes.
