Plymouth University is the 15th largest university in the United Kingdom with around 27,000 students and almost 3,000 staff.
The University’s Enterprise Architecture Practice was very reliant on disparate spreadsheets, diagrams, documents and databases for managing EA information. Maintaining all of the documents and the information inside them was becoming an impossible task.
Using erwin EA, Plymouth University established a central enterprise architecture repository allowing EA assets to be stored, re-used and shared easily. The EA team customized the metamodel of erwin EA to suit their desired approach, meaning they did not have to change their processes to suit the tool.
By replacing their manual and fragmented approach to managing enterprise architecture assets, the EA team have significant reduced complexity and established a more mature practice. Additionally, improved collaboration with stakeholders has created much closer alignment between the University’s business objectives and their existing or required IT capabilities.
