Enforce Rename of a Duplicate Name to Ensure Unique Naming

When you attempt to create a duplicate name, and you set your duplicate name preferences to "Ask," you can accept the duplicate name, cancel the action that created the duplicate name, or have a new name generated for you.

To enforce a rename for duplicate object names

1. Click Model Naming Options on the Actions menu.

   The Model Naming Options dialog opens.

2. Click Duplicate Names and select Ask.
3. Click OK.

   The Model Naming Options dialog closes. When a duplicate name situation occurs, you are notified that a duplicate name exists and are asked to enter a replacement name or have a new name generated for the duplicate name. Replacement names are not checked for uniqueness.
