Filter Tables in the Schema Generation Dialog for Forward Engineering

You can use the Schema Generation dialog to select a subset of the tables in a model for forward engineering. By default, all the tables in the current subject area are forward engineered.

To filter tables in the schema generation dialog

  1. In the physical model, Click Forward Engineer, Schema... on the Actions menu

    The Schema Generation dialog opens.

  2. Click Filter.

    The Select dialog opens.

  3. Tables that will be forward engineered are listed in the Table Filter list. You can move tables that you do not want to forward engineer to the Table Pool by using the following options:

Moves the selected table from the Table Filter list to the Table Pool list.

Moves the selected table from the Table Pool list to the Table Filter list.

Moves all table names from the Table Filter list to the Table Pool list.

Moves all table names from the Table Pool list to the Table Filter list.

The Table Filter text changes to show the number of tables selected out of the total number of tables in the current subject area (for example, 7/19).

    Click Close.

The tables for Forward Engineering are selected.

Note: If you select one or more tables in a model and open the <Database> Schema Generation dialog, when you click the Filter button, you are asked if you want to use the tables that are currently selected as the model filter. Click Yes if you want to generate the model using only the selected tables or click No to open the Table Filter dialog and select from all the tables in the current subject area.

To properly maintain database integrity when comparing the current model with a SQL script or .erwin file, you must verify that all dependent tables are included in the Differences list.
